Virtual Event Summit

Branding

Virtual Event Summit is an online conference and training for content creators and marketers all over the world. I designed the brand identity and designed and built the website on this project.

Logotype and mark

It was important to me to convey the sense of grandiosity and flashiness of a large conference or something like a World’s fair. I wanted to imagine how the mark would look as a real object in the real world.

Illustration style

I used 3D and vibrant neon colors throughout the marketing materials to help conjure a vision of a grand and exciting event.

“$15,000” in glossy pink and yellow extruded 3D lettering
A blue and pink 3D trophy cup A 3D laptop with a pair of headphones resting on it “16th Sep” in 3D lettering with confetti
A 3D replay arrow circling between play and rewind shapes An orange and pink 3D funnel with arrows pointing down A 3D browser window with a pencil drawing on it

Typography

Virtual Event Summit uses bold and modern typography.

Colors

Vibrant, energetic, exciting colors. Neon lights and iridescent motifs. This project doesn’t have a regular palette but rather gradient swatches reflecting the dynamic vibe of the event.

Landing page

Live page

I designed and implemented a unique landing page. Everything was crafted by hand before AI tools. I used the three.js library for 3D and Blender for actual 3D models.

Hero

This is the centerpiece of the website. A fully 3D, scroll-controlled camera animation of a virtual stage.

I had taught myself three.js and shaders in order to implement this. The first prototype was made in Blender 3D which made it easy to iterate quickly and see that the basic idea works. I baked all the lighting, wrote shaders for emoticons and assembled everything.

One of the problems I saw when implementing is that all the visuals and animation make it hard to focus on the text. So I’ve implemented blur when a user hovers over the text. This isn’t a problem on phones, because there the text sections take the full width of the screen.

Tickets

The ticket is a 3D object that is animated on mouse movement. This helps solidify a feeling that you buy something that is valuable and tangible.

Conclusion

This was an amazing project that I learned a lot from. Learning Three.js gave me the freedom to implement the animations exactly how I imagined them.
